Patrick S. Sawyer, PhD, is an applied researcher and instructor focused on quantitative methods for Data Science. He teaches PhD-level research methods at the Instituto de Ciências Sociais, University of Lisbon; previously lectured at NOVA FCSH; and served as a Research Analyst at the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. Toolset: Python and R for data wrangling and analysis, SQL for data access, ETL and validation, visualization, and reproducible workflows. In this course he covers research-grade statistics, Python/R stacks, text and network data processing, dashboards, and data ethics.
